NCDD: Taking Dialogue & Deliberation to Scale

Friday, August 4th, 2006

NCDD was off to a good start yesterday with a pre-conference session on Taking Dialogue & Deliberation to Scale, by Ashley Boyd and Janet Fiero of AmeriaSpeaks.

Some of the topics that we covered:

  • AmericaSpeaks methodology
  • 7 key principles to large-scale townhall meetings
  • AmericaSpeaks’ Voices & Choices project in Northeastern Ohio
  • How to develop trust
  • How to sustain citizen engagement

I gained many valuable insights (and took many notes, which I hope to post later in a more digested version).

نور العين

Thursday, August 3rd, 2006

So I downloaded Amr Diab’s 1996 album Nour Al Ain (نور العين) on iTunes. Reminds me of my trip to Damascus, Syria back in 1997.

It is such a shame what’s going on in the Middle East, such a shame.

Anyone who’s ever been to the region would probably agree.

There’s a certain Truthiness in Wikiality

In case you haven’t seen it, take a look at Colbert Analyzes Wikipedia (YouTube).

Or go to and find out all there is to know about the concept of Truthiness, The Wørd, and Movies that are Destroying America.

Probably the best TV show by far right now.
